Mookie can make a home anywhere it seems, as he’s definitely embraced the LA life. And Dodger fans are definitely embracing their new MVP from their homes whether he knows it or not.

But with Mookie’s phenomal start for his new career team, him leading in WAR, and the season being about halfway over, it looks as if Betts may become the second MVP to win in both leagues ever.

Day in and day out this guy grinds. He hustles on every play and is squaring the ball up better than he ever has before. He has a 99% contact rate in the zone. AKA he doesn’t miss.

He’s top 5 offensively in MLB. Even though he doesn’t lead the league in it, he is the Dodger’s best base runner, which has been a huge weakness for the rest of the lineup. Currently he’s OPSing .990, has 9 homers, 21 RBI, 3 SB, a .294 average, and a sweet spot % of 44.2%. He’s just absolutely unreal.

And he’ll be in the running for the right field silver slugger award. Unfortunately for Betts he has to compete with a hot Bryce Harper, a Charlie Blackmon going for .400, and possibly a fellow MVP candidate in Castellanos due only to his bat.

Mookie is third in MLB in defensive war, and first in RF. He’s had a play of the week off an outfield assist to third, and almost set a record for total RF putouts in a game. Which is probably why he currently leads all RF’s in putouts with 62.

His range is also among the top in the game. He’s in the 95th percentile in Outs Above Average in baseball. He has an actual success rate of 95%, 3% above the expected 92%. He’s already worth 2 OAA compared to his 6 total in RF last year (that again won him a gold glove).

He’s probably a shoe-in for the gold glove already after winning four straight in the AL.

Team Chemistry

The team seems to love him. He gave a speech upon his entrance which seemed to win most of the team over. Since then it’s been all smiles. But perhaps the most inspiring aspect of Betts was fixing Austin Barnes somehow. He’s been working a lot with Barnes and help him raise his average to .306 which currently leads the entire team. Barnes was hitting under .100 until August 11th. Since then he’s hitting just under .500 with about half his at bats ending with a hard hit ball.

He leads MLB in total WAR and is top 5 in both offensive and defensive WAR. He’s a leader in OPS, Home runs, batting average, and so on. And even though he doesn’t lead the league in it, he is the Dodger’s best base runner as well. He literally is excelling everywhere and is the current front runner with Tatis for the actual MVP.
